|
Right through the Forgotten Land Are you ready for a tour through Western Sahara? 'Off the beaten track' can be an empty phrase. Not when traveling through the Western (Moroccan) Sahara. This trip is for the real adventurers. Including Discomfort - Insecurity - Campfire - Stories - Fatigue - Dust - Huh? experiences - and Korean beer! You can register for this trip now. It's from 20 to 27 February 2021 and you can also do a tailor-made trip. |
Adventure Read here how Western Sahara came to my sights: Blog Western Sahara I: German victory in Africa 50 years after Rommel. Or: how a few Germans opened the Mauritanian border. Blog Western Sahara II: Transit, the long way to Dakar. And time slowed down, faded away, hid under a virtual bell jar that blurred the rest of the world. |

Until Here and Beyond
Because such a great adventure in Western Sahara is just not something people stand in line for, I work together with Joost Smets from Tot Hier en Verder (Until Here and Beyond). He mainly does areas whose status is controversial, that's why. He has great ideas and is also coming along, so, for once, there are 2 tour guides. Quite adventurous in itself ;-)

Slick tourist movies about Western Sahara are very difficult to find. And that's fine with me :-)
Here a movie of one saal32 (minus 0:38).
Western Sahara rugged, for the real adventure. |
Here a movie of a baronderedonda (min 0:17).

Covid and Sahara conflict
Of course we will or will not do our trips in relation to the situation around Covid and the government measures. In Western Sahara, skirmishes between the Polisario and the FAR have recently started in various places. We keep an eye on developments and this tourwill only take place if the situation is safe. Polisario = Frente Popular para la Liberación de Saguia el-Hamra y Rio de Oro, the independence movement of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR). FAR = Forces Armées Royales, literally Royal Armed Forces, the army of Morocco. |
